BDTVEC Programmes

The curriculum for all BDTVEC programmes are locally designed and produced by (i) the Programme Development Unit (PDU) of the Department of Technical Education (DTE), for programmes up to National Diploma level and by (ii) the Institut Teknologi Bruinei (ITB), for HND level programmes.

All programmes are designed according to the certification policies and requirements as issued by the BDTVEC. Employers play a significant role in identifying what is to be taught in VTE programmes. It is through this link with employers that VTE programmes are ensured to be relevant to the needs of the local industries.

In order to match VTE with local industry needs, the DACUM process is adopted in order to produce the curriculum. DACUM (Design aCurriculum) is a group technique used to identify the Occupational Profile Chart (OPC), i.e. the duties and tasks contained in a given occupation. Panelists of the DACUM workshop are invited from the relevant industries for this purpose.

In order to provide a wider scope, the completed OPC is sent out to the panelists of the DACUM workshop as well as other relevant industries for verification purposes.
