MINISTRY OF EDUCATION GOLF TOURNAMENT

 

 

Berakas, 5th November 2006 - The Ministry of Education Golf Tournament was held at the Royal Airlines Golf Club at Berakas in conjunction with the 2006 Teacher’s Day celebration.


There were about 80 personnel from Ministry of Education and guests participated in the tournament where nine categories namely the Overall Nett, Overall Gross, VIP category, Student category, Veteran category, Sponsors category, Division A (H’cap 0-16), Division B (H’cap 17-20) and Division C (H’cap21-24) category, are contested.

BRUNEI DARUSSALAM PARTICIPATION

ON THE 3RD INTERNATIONAL MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE

OLYMPIAD JAKARTA, INDONESIA

 

 

Background:

 

The 3rd International Mathematics and Science Olympiad (3rd IMSO) is organized by the Ministry of National Republic of Indonesia. It will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia from 12th November until 17th November 2006. This competition was firstly held in 2003 and was known as the First ASEAN Primary School Mathematics and Science Olympiad, which was only opened to primary pupils from member countries of the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). In the following year (2004), the organizer decided to include countries outside ASEAN, thus changed its name to the 1st International Mathematics and Science Olympiad (1st IMSO 2004). This Olympiad is meant for Primary Sixth Students aged less than 12 years old before 12 November 2006. Besides sitting for Theoretical and Experimental/Exploration Papers, the students will have the opportunity to do some outbound activities and educational visits to some interesting places in Jakarta.

Over the past 3 years, Brunei Darussalam has attained tremendous achievement which helped to reflect our capabilities and competencies.

  • To improve the competencies of the elementary school students in Mathematics and Science and foster friendly relationship between primary school students of participating countries.

  • To motivate the elementary school students in developing their intellectual capacity and skills in Mathematics and Science.

Participants of the programme:

The 3 students representing the Science Competition were the eligible winners of Primary School Science Olympiad (PSSO 2006), while the other 3 students who represent Mathematics Competition were eligible winners of Primary School Mathematics Olympiad (PSMO 2006), both of which were organized by the STEP Centre, Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd early this year. These students are primary sixth students who are under 12 years old. All the students had undergone coaching and training every Fridays and Sundays and during school holidays since end of August 2006 at the STEP Centre. Training and coaching were done by the STEP officers and selected tutors / instructors. They were both given exposures through educational visit to the OGDC and Qualifying Examinations at the STEP Centre and Sekolah Menengah Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja, Mentiri.
