WORKING VISIT MINISTER OF EDUCATION TO LAMBAK KANAN PRIMARY SCHOOL AND DATO BASIR PRIMARY SCHOOL

Lambak Kanan, 8th November 2006 - Minister of Education, the Honourable Pehin Dato Awang Haji Abdul Rahman visited Lambak Kanan Primary School and Dato Basir Primary School as part of an ongoing inspection of the infrastructure and teaching quality at schools and colleges in the country.
At Lambak Kanan Primary School, the minister was briefed by headmaster Cikgu Hajah Jeriah bte Hj Duraman, during which a few matters were raised, including the school's background, academic programmes, students' achievements in public examinations, and issues and challenges faced by the school amid its growing population.
Accompanying the minister during his visit were deputy minister, deputy permanent secretaries, directors and senior officials of the Ministry of Education.
A discussion was also held, where the minister reminded the school of the importance of adequate infrastructure and better quality of teaching.

He also called for cleanliness at school toilets and compounds as well as the safety of the children.
Later, the minister planted a tree to commemorate his visit to the school.
Meanwhile, on arrival at Dato Basir Primary School, the minister and his entourage were greeted by headmaster Hjh Dyg Sarimah bte Hj Awg Bakir, who later briefed the visitors on the history of the school and its facilities as well as programmes and activities aimed at assisting the students achieve their academic goals.
