THANKSGIVING AND APPRECIATION CEREMONY FOR STUDENTS AND SCHOOLS EXCELLED IN THE 2006 PSR EXAMINATIONS

Berakas, 31 January 2007 - A total of 151 straight A’s students were celebrated during a second thanksgiving and appreciation ceremony held at the International Convention Centre.
The ceremony was held in recognition of all students and schools that had excelled in the PSR examinations.
On hand to award the students was Deputy Minister of Education cum guest of the honour Yang Mulia Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman.
Recording 100 per cent passes in the PSR examinations were SR Hj Tarif Tamoi, SR Bebuloh, SR Putat, SR Bakiau, SR Sinaut, SR Benutan, SR Layong, SR Kuala Belait, SR Penaga, SR Rempayoh, SR DMS Dian Sukang, SR PSN Pg Mohd Yusof and SR Sungai Tali.

Fifty-seven government schools achieved 80-99 per cent passes, while 24 government schools produced students with results of five straight A's.
In his speech the guest of honour said, "The ceremony is to provide recognition to students and schools that have achieved excellent results in the PSR examinations.
“Therefore the ceremony will also give motivation and incentive to students as whole to raise their performances as well as bring about healthy competition among schools,” he added.
The deputy minister said parents need to look after and understand their children so that they (children) will follow the school rules and complete their homework.
