9th April 2008, Berakas – The official opening ceremony Futsal Competition was held today in conjunction with the 14th Civil Services Day 2007 which was taken place at the Indoor Stadium of Negara Brunei Darussalam Sports Complex here. Present as the guest of honour was Yang Mulia Haji Mohd Daud bin Haji Mahmud, Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education. The Ministry of Education was given the opportunity to organize the Futsal Competition for the 14th Civil Services Day 2007.

The event began with marching of participants and followed with a welcoming speech by the co-chairperson of the event, Yang Mulia Awang Haji Mohammad Taib bin DH Haji Abdul Wahab, Director of Administration and Services at the Ministry of Education. A draw is taken place for the first match of Veteran and Open categories soon after the guest of honour officiated the competition.

11 teams are participating in the event, including the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Development, Ministry of Communications, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources, Ministry of Finance and the Prime's Minister Office.

The matches are divided into three rounds and the first round will be played in a round-robin format.

Apart from fostering relations among the Civil Service members, the competition aims to encourage teamwork and sportsmanship among them.
